Meet Selah Rose

I will never forget the conversation I had with my Mother-in-Law a few months ago.  We were talking about our quickly growing family and I mentioned how I couldn't imagine what it would be like to love our second baby the same way I love Seth.  She told me, “Haylee, I remember feeling the same way, it is amazing how God grows your heart as your family grows, it is the same with second, and third kids, son and daughter-in-laws, and then grandkids.  It is overwhelming experiencing how much your heart can grow."  She hit the nail on the head and that conversation will always stick with me.

Justin and I met Selah Rose Hill on January 24, 2018 and from the moment she was born our family felt perfect.  It is truly amazing how you meet this new little person and it automatically just feels right like they have been a missing piece all along.   Being that it was my second birth I thought for sure, she was going to come at like 38 weeks.... so the last few weeks felt like they were months long.  I was so excited to meet her and was so uncomfortable on and off, so I woke up each and every day thinking, "today is the day".  I knew she would come when she was good and ready and that’s exactly what she did.

One of my birth goals from day one was to cherish my time with Seth and Justin in the days leading up to her coming, and that is exactly what I did.  The morning of Selah's birthday, Seth and I woke up and went to his 2 year check up, I felt like something could be different but didn’t want to hold my breath.  We went to Seth's favorite place in the world, Sandy's Doughnuts with some friends and then went and walked around Kids R Us.

By mid afternoon I was sure that she was on her way.  We spent the evening at home with Seth and visiting with Justin's mom and a couple of close friends, which was the best relaxing afternoon I could have asked for.  By the time dinner rolled around we decided to head to the hospital.  Our dear friend Kari with Zander and Breck Photography met us in triage around 7:30 and Selah was born just after 9 pm.

If there is one thing I learned from my second baby, it is that each baby is different.  My entire pregnancy was different, and my delivery ended up being vastly different.  Once we got up into the natural birthing suite I wanted to take a bath.  I got into the bath and was never able to get fully comfortable so Justin suggested I get up and go lay down.... And just like that, I got up out of the tub and it was time for our sweet girl to make her appearance.

The last few weeks have been amazing, our little family of four can be tiring at times but we would not trade it for anything.  It feels nothing short of perfect.  We cannot wait to watch these two kiddos grow together, Seth loves his baby sister so much and Selah is the world's best baby, for now.  Thank you to all of our friends and family for your love, support and prayers, we cannot wait for you all to get to know our sweet little lady.
